WHAT TO WEAR
Thinking about booking an upcoming boudoir photography session but aren’t sure what to wear? You’ve come to the right place!
For most of my clients, they have never taken part in a photography session like this before, so of course they have questions about what to wear and bring on the day of the shoot! I do not expect you to know what to wear to a Boudoir Portrait shoot yet but rest assured that I will guide you through the process based off my years of experience and client feedback! My goal is to give you as much information as you need to show up with confidence and make sure that you are in love with the pieces you’ve brought (whether it’s lingerie, intimates, a bathing suit, casual clothing, etc.).
So, without further ado, let’s talk outfits!
Loose & relaxed clothing works best
First thing’s first, I always recommend that you wear loose clothing on the day of your photography session. A loose fitting bra and panties will keep your skin looking natural and relaxed without leaving strap marks or fabric textures from tight fitting clothes or tight bra straps. Wearing loose fitting clothing also allows for the best skin retouching to achieve a professional magazine quality image. We will pose you to accentuate your curves, but an outfit that is too tight will create dimples in the skin that may take away or diminish a dreamy goddess appearance. Also, if attire is too tight or uncomfortable, the result may take away energy from the seductive desire within your photos. We encourage you to wear loose fitting clothing that will caress rather than compress your skin.
Recommended clothing items
Here’s what we recommend that you bring and wear during your photography shoot:
Bikinis (can be for beach, studio or home/hotel shoots)
Lingerie
Bra and panties set
T-shirt and jeans
Intimate attire
Special dress
Sundress
Favorite sweater, shirt, tank top, etc.
Robes
Scarves
Fabrics and lace for an implied nude (nude without exposing private areas) - we have some at our studio but you can also bring your own
A special item that belongs to your romantic partner as a coverup
Hair & Make Up
We can organize for your hair to look flawless with a professional hair and make up artists (based on availability and individual pricing).
Alternatively, your natural hair style may provide a more realistic honest and intimate version of you that will focus more on the moment.
Either way is great, as we can organize a hair and or makeup artist, or we can skip this step depending on the look you want to have in your photos. We have seen amazing photos evolve from morning bed head hair that captures the essence of intimacy with simple makeup. Regarding make up, less is more. Please keep in mind that makeup should not be heavy, or used to cover up blemishes, as we can handle that task in our edit processing.
Something personal from/of your significant other
This could be a favorite shirt, surfboard, sports team related items, career related items, or something personal that is well respected and treasured. Remember, you want to be comfortable and confident at your photography shoot and these items might help you relax and settle in - think of it like a security blanket.
Hydrate & drink lots of water
Hydration is extremely important for keeping your skin looking healthy and vibrant, so load up on the water ahead of your session.
Avoid alcohol
Leading up to your photography session, please avoid alcohol and do not arrive hungover to the shoot. You want to look and feel your best on the day of, so lay off the booze my friend! Buzzed eyes are very difficult to make vibrant and energetic. Don’t worry, you can always celebrate with a cheeky cocktail after our session has completed!
Use our studio wearables
We have a trunk with fabrics, masks, high heels, wigs, and a few lingerie pieces at our studio that you are welcome to use, but we recommend that you really bring clothing & items that make you feel your best and give you exactly the kind of look that you want.
Steamer for wrinkled clothing & fabrics
Our studio has a steamer available to get the wrinkles out of clothing, so don’t worry about bringing that - and leave the iron at home!
A treat for after your session
Booking yourself in for a boudoir photography session is a big deal, likely something you’ve been thinking about for weeks/months/years leading up to your session. So, let’s CELEBRATE how you showed up for yourself and mark this milestone!
At the very least, take yourself out for breakfast/lunch/dinner afterwards.
When your session with Abe wraps up, we will provide a cocktail, pup, and the ocean vibes to celebrate! From there, it’s up to you!
