PREPARING FOR YOUR FIRST BOUDOIR SESSION

Congratulations, you’ve decided to bravely book yourself in for your first boudoir photography session! Once the excitement wears off, you might be left thinking “oh my goodness, what have I gotten myself into?” and that’s often when the nerves set in.

But don’t worry, with a little bit of information you’ll feel prepared, confident and relaxed going into your photography session! No surprises around here.

The majority of my clients are “first timers”, meaning they know that they want to do a boudoir photography session but they have no idea HOW that’s actually going to happen. What do they need to do? What do they need to bring? How can they prepare ahead of time? What are the do’s & don’ts that will make the day a success?

If this is your first time booking a boudoir photography session, then I do not expect you to know how they work yet! It’s my job as an experienced photographer to make your experience a GOOD one, for you to feel your best on the day of, and for you to adore the finished photos afterwards. I will guide you through the process based off my years of experience and client feedback!

How do boudoir photography sessions work?

Photographed in the studio, we provide professional retouched High Resolution boudoir portraits in a variety of guided poses with facial expressions. We will be focusing on your eyes, and best poses for your body shape. This session is all about you! It is our goal that you will be comfortable in our studio and enjoy a fun shoot. Moods can range from playful to serious and sultry for a provocative seductive tone.

Is it just you and me at the boudoir photography session?

There will be 3 people at your photography session:

  1. You, the client

  2. Abe Galan, the photographer

  3. My trusted female photography assistant

We are here to make sure you are comfortable, feel safe, relaxed and confident on the day of your session so that you get the treasured images you desire!

Will you help me pose and give me directions?

YES, definitely! All expressions and poses are gently guided from your photographer and assistant, although you’re welcome to add any extra styling to bring out your individuality.

Avoid alcohol before your session

Please do not drink alcoholic beverages prior to arrival to ensure healthy decision making, and to keep your eyes looking bright and beautiful.

Can I drink alcohol at the photography session to relax?

1 (optional) complimentary glass of champagne will be offered during your photography session, to help ease your nerves. We do not serve red wine due to discoloration of teeth.

What kind of retouching will be done to the images?

Re-touching includes skin softening, blemish removal, softening of stretch marks, light body shaping, and any other details to give your photos the WOW look.

Your images are designed to be viewed in private, or you can text some of your provocative images to spice up your seductive energy with your romantic partner.

Where does this boudoir photo session take place?

Our home studio designed specifically for boudoir is located at 44 Kahana Ridge Place, Lahaina HI.

If you go with the Home/Hotel 30 package then the photography session will take place at the location you choose, or at our photography studio.

What if I’ve never taken a photography session before and I’m nervous?

It’s perfectly normal to be nervous and even anxious ahead of your session, but from experience we can tell you that all you really need to do is show up with zero worries. We’ve trained for years learning how to pose with uniquely guided facial expressions. Many clients feel awkward in front of the camera, but we are trained in posing, we include some relaxing mood music to help set the pace, as well as a bag of unique tricks to alleviate nervousness.

What should I eat or drink before the session?

Water, water, and more water. Hydration is key so that your skin is smooth and our re-touching efforts are minimal.

Eat healthy, making sure to avoid alcoholic drinks the night before and day prior to your session.

Is Hair or Make-Up included?

No, although we are perfectly able to photograph your natural hair style. Messy bed head is perfectly fine too! Make-up artists can be included based on availability. Pricing for make up is subject to each individual artist.

Can I bring a friend or loved one to the session?

Yes, they are welcome. However, bringing a friend might be a good idea or a bad idea. We encourage you to bring a friend, but the priority is for you to be in the moment. We want for your mind to be thinking of your romantic partner, or be thinking about you and only you. We will be directing private, tasteful and mature poses for you and your romantic partner, so pick your support friend wisely.

Are my images kept private or will they be used for social media like Facebook or Instagram?

All images are kept private and confidential, unless you give us written permission to allow us to use your beautiful tasteful photos for marketing purposes.
